Lead on!
Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wants to come to Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross,
And follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me, will find it. What will it benefit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? For the Son of Man is going to come with His angels in the glory of His Father, then He will reward each according to what He has done." Matthew 16:24-27
Jesus is giving His disciples the example to follow. He, God, gave up His life in glory to come to earth and become a man. He was reviled, scorned and ultimately crucified for His efforts.
How does this relate to me, a 21st century Christian? Life is not always happy. The modern mans desire to be happy is in stark contrast with what Jesus is saying.
It is now Easter Saturday. We remember Jesus dying on a cross for our sins. Today 21 centuries later the world saw Jesus buried in a tomb. Is you life in a tomb? Were you going somewhere and now nowhere? In the disciples mind, Jesus had a bright future. Not in Jesus' mind. He knew He would face the cross. But He also knew He would rise again.
Whilst the world saw Jesus buried in a tomb He was preaching to souls in Paradise. Unseen to earthly eyes He was leading the captives home to heaven.
The world could see you buried in nothingness but you also could be leading captives to heaven.
Don't sit and wait for the glory, it will be too late. Amen!
