The Lord's Possessions

"For it (the Kingdom of God) is just like a man going on a journey. He called his own slaves and turned over his possessions to them. To one he gave five talents, to another two and another one- to each according to his own ability. Then he went on a journey." Matthew 25:14,15

I have read this story many times and heard it preached on. Always I have thought of the talents God has given me and how I must be a good steward of my talents.

Today as I read this I see the master gave his slaves 'his' possessions. I think of what are the Lord's possessions. They are: the people in my world, the business I manage, the planet I inhabit, to name a few.

How am I being a good steward of these? I am surrounded by neighbours. What can I do for them? I can love them, open up my world to them and invite them in. I can respect them, honour them.

I have a business to run that also has people in it. How am I a good steward towards these people? How I treat them will reflect on how I respect the kingdom of God. I must also show kingdom principles in the way I manage my business.

I am in a business community, how I behave and treat others will reflect on how I see myself as a representative of the gospel.

As a member of the global community I must respect and care for the planet I live on.

As a child of God I must respect this life I have been given and take care of it.

Being given the Lord's possessions to take care of is an important task, one that humbles me and honours me. What a good God He is to trust me so! Amen!
