Why Swear to Impress?

...and he who swear by heavens throne swears by the One who sits on it. Matthew 23:22

We become so caught up in our own authority and the proving of it, we start to make wild gestures and wild comments.

The above verse comes after Jesus had been teaching on the importance of not trying to impress with outlandish statements, all we need is our 'yes' to mean 'yes' and our 'no' to mean 'no'.

What makes us try to impress? I imagine it is insecurity in ourselves. All of us have patches of insecurity. When we find ourselves there and very vulnerable we say what we need not say to help out insecurity. When, really, we need to embrace our insecurity right through the other side and find our God is actually there. He is our security, no we ourselves.

I have been challenged to walk in the Spirit in the light of sharing Christ with the sick, the broken and the tormented.
There are times, frankly I do not know what to say so I back off, wait and give grace. I so want to have His answers but if they are not there I wait. Yes I feel insecure when I don't have a word or faith but I do it anyway.

When confronted by foolish believing I try to gently correct. That happened twice today. Mr universe tried to appear, God have mercy!

Tonight I am in a brother's house. When I arrived he had bad kidney pain from stones. I prayed for healing. I can see he is better but whether he will give God the glory or not, that is for Him to come to.

During this past week I prayed for healing for many people. Many I did not know, but I did any way.

For me life is not a hapless situation run by circumstance but in my God's hands.

I am looking for more of God and more of what He wants to do. How about you?
