Circumcision
At that time the Lord said to Joshua, "Make Flint knives and circumcise the Israelite men again. So Joshua made Flint knives and circumcised the Israelite men at Gibeath-haaraloth. (The hill of foreskins) Joshua 5:2,3
Ouch! What a time to be circumcised! That would have been very painful! Yet here was a group of men who had grown up in the desert and although their fathers had been circumcised, they had not.
What does circumcision mean? Dedication. The Christian has a circumcised heart. We can no longer go back to old ways of life. We belong to another.
By being circumcised then men would carry the awareness of their God in their bodies. They were set apart, different and belonged to the Lord God almighty.
By being circumcised the men would have days where they suffered and were mightily aware of what they were and where they were going.
They were very vulnerable and if their enemy only knew how vulnerable he could have destroyed them. Fortunately he was so afraid of them he was in lock down mode.
As a Christian I am in battle and constantly I must go before the Lord in worship because of who He is and what He is in my life. It is not about what I want or want to avoid. I need to know Him amidst my battles and really know His presence. Then I can give Him room to be God. Amen!
