Commit
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act, making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like noonday. Psalm 37:5,6
Here is another challenge: commit your way to the Lord. Now, have you ever pondered on what that actually means? To help me understand I will use the example of an on-line entry in a competition.
Yesterday I applied for a grant offered by my employer for some worthy entrant. The competition was looking for people who are doing things in their community. I have a project to raise funds to build a toilet on a skate park opposite my office. A seemingly un-exciting project but one that will bless many. I have even determined to be responsible for locking said toilet every work-day.
I reached a point on my application where it said: 'if you press SUBMIT you cannot make any changes.' If I pressed SUBIT I was committed.
Now how does this apply to me committing my ways to the Lord? I am glad you asked! If I commit my ways to the Lord, they move into His territory and they are His property. If I commit my ways to paper, that is I write them down, I commit myself to the plan. Eg a Business Plan. My thought on paper become a plan. A plan on paper is something God is interested in. When I bother to commit myself to a plan, He gets excited because faith is involved and that is His territory.
Got the idea? The next sentence says: 'trust In Him, and He will act!' If I bother to commit myself to enter a competition you know that there will be a judging and a possibility of a prize. The judging is inevitable. With God, the response is inevitable, if I trust Him, that is. Yes He will act if I do my part.
The result is 'my righteousness shining like the dawn.' This means God shines His glory on me as I trust Him. Pretty cool!
