Given to Suffer

For it has been given to you on Christ's behalf not only to believe in Him, but also suffer for Him, having the same struggle that you saw I had and now hear that I have. Philippians 1:29,30

By grace I am given the ability to believe in Him and the ability to suffer for Him.

We don't like to hear about us suffering. I've done quite a bit of this but if this life is not about my happiness or my ease but about His glory. My attitude determines which it shall be: glory or grief.

If all is for His glory then the message goes out. I have an unsaved friend who told me on Friday night she has always admired my faith but her religious relatives who she is close to make her think their way is what knowing Jesus is about.

I have many unsaved relatives who wonder at my faith but that is not enough. I want to see them in Christ, worshipping the Lord, in freedom that only He brings. It is not enough that I am faithful I want to bring them in. Yes I speak to them about Him but they turn away. However being upset or anxious about their souls will not bring them through, only faith will. Therefore I need to look at them in faith and believe they want what I have. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
