Remember Me
After the entire nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the Lord spoke to Joshua: "Choose 12 men from the people, one man for each tribe, and command them, 'Take 12 stones from the place in the middle of the Jordan where the priests are standing, carry them wih you, and set them down at the place where you spend the night," Joshua 4:1-3
This is significant. This miracle needed remembering. Taking stones from the middle of the path of deliverance, whilst dry, and soon to be wet again, would make these a treasure of rememberance.
It is important that we remember and take time to creat memories about how our God delivers us and brings us throug onto dry land. The reason we need to create monuments with the stones is to have a point of rememberance. Every time the people went by the monument built out of the stones they remembered and remembered to tell their children and grandchildren. Another pary would remember, their enemies. They needed to remember such a great God, a God who is honoured and revered. A God of might and power. Amen!
As Christians we are asked to remember our deliverer by the taking of communion. The pieces of bread represent the pieces of rock, the Rock of offence. Jesus was the rock who the Jews stumbled over. He is the rock that hardened hearts stumble over. Yet He is the only saviour and deliverer. Amen!
