Want Glory? Here's How to Get it!

Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage.

Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men.

And when He had come as a man in His external form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death- even to death on a cross.

FOR THiS REASON God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow- of those who are in heaven and on the earth and under the earth- and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5-11

There you have it folks! We spend so much time trying to make it at work, in sport, in relationships and yet what did Jesus do? Emptied Himself, humbled Himself and paid the price of our sins. It is one thing to give up His Godhead but another to take on all our filth, but He did.

So what can I do? What can I lay down? Striving? Welł there is a start. Ego? Possibly! Self-will? Definitely!

And what can I take up? Grace, peace, willingness to follow, a listening ear, an open heart. Sounds like a good trade, except Jesus suffered. Do I do that as well? Yes, it is a part of the deal. How do I suffer? Dying to self is the start and then see what happens after that. Sounds scary! So is the alternative. What is that? Eternity in someplace without Him, a place of eternal suffering.

Ah! So I get it. The choice is, suffer a little before I go or forever when I am gone! Right!
