Be Healed and Go Home
Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."
He told the paralytic, "I tell you get up, pick up your mat, and go home." Immediately he got up, picked up the mat and went out in front of everyone. As a result they were astounded and gave glory to God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this." Mark 2:5; 10-12
Two days ago I did an interview with a young couple. The husband was in a wheelchair, he was quadriplegic as a result of falling asleep at the wheel of his car. As I read this I think of that young man waking up in hospital knowing he had robbed his young wife of an able bodied husband. What sort of guilt would he have felt at that time?
When I read about this paralytic and know the first things Jesus did was forgive his sins. What burden did he bear? Did he believe, like so many did, that he was ill because of either his sins or his parents sins? Was he a paralytic because he was involved in some crazy stunt, like riding a bull, for fun? Whatever the reason, this young man carried a burden of sin.
What is your burden? Do you think you must stay injured for the rest of your life because of something you have done? Are you placing your judgement above the forgiveness of Christ, freely given?
This man picked up his mat and walked out in front of everyone. Jesus had told him to go home. At home there was something to resolve. Jesus told others to go to the priests and offer sacrifices, but he told this man to go home. What sort of problem was waiting him to resolve?
Accept the healing and forgiveness Jesus gives and go home and set things straight. Be blessed! Amen!
