The Disruption

When He entered Capernaum again after some days, it was reported that He was at home. So many people gathered together that there was no more room, not even in the doorway, and he was speaking the message to them. Then they came to Him bringing a paralytic, carried by four men. Since they were not able to bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they removed the roof above where he was. And when they had broken through, they lowered the mat on which the laralytic was lying. Mark 2:1-5

It appears that Peter's home was the headquarters. Imagine the disruption. How did the family take the roof being removed to let a man down on a mat? In the world I live in, if that happened here the people who had removed the roof would have become so excited at the man's healing they would forget to repair the roof.

As I put myself in the shoes of Peter's wife and household I imagine the wife wondering how she would feed all these people. Last night I had two people over to go through some DivorceCare material. It was unplanned and only came about because someone had removed the DVD player at church. I was unprepared and did not have regular milk, as I drink Rice milk. The man asked for a coffee and I had to apologise for not being prepared with regular milk. He was fine with what I had but as a woman these are things you think of.

The roof would be an issue. Rain coming in, especially on such an honoured guest, would not be right, even if He was the cause of the destruction. A growth in grace would be necessary.

We are not told anything about Peter's wife so we can only summise. Jesus was a major disruptor but then it was required. The Kingdom of God had come in a way that was turning the then world upside down.

How is he disrupting your life? Embrace it! Enjoy Him. Amen!
