Who is Considered Family?

Then His mother and His brothers came, and standing outside, they sent word to Him and called Him.
A crowd was sitting around Him and told Him, "Look, Your mother, Tour brother, and Your sisters are outside asking for You."
Jesus replied, " Who are My mother and My brothers?" And looking about at those who were sitting in a circle around Him, He said, Here are My mother and My brothers! Whoever does the will of God is My brother and sister and mother." Mark 3:31-35

If my Son said this in my earshot I would have been hurt and would wonder where I had missed it. Why do families fall out? Mostly misunderstanding on what each are meant to do and be. I wonder if Mary had the same problem that John had? He thought Jesus was to come in power and authority. Mary knew she was carrying the Son of God but did she have expectations. Did Jesus not grow up in the way she expected? Or was her problem, keeping the peace with her other children. Sibling rivalry is a major problem.

What Jesus says, however, is important for us. Those He calls close relatives are those who do the will of the Father, not their own interpretation of the Father's will, but His actual will.

Many interpret business success as a sign of divine approval on life-style choices, moral choices. However, the word of God was given to us to guide us in our choices.

Seeking God's favour financially because one believes they are deserving is also misguided. We are blessed when we use faith in a particular matter.
