Who's Spirit?
The scribes who had come down from Jerusalem said, "He has Beelzebul in Him!" And He drives out demons by the ruler of the demons!"
So He summoned them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan?" If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan rebels against himself and is divided, he cannot stand but is finished!"
On the other hand, no one can enter a strong mans house and rob his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he will rob his house. I assure you: People will be forgiven for all sins and whatever blasphemes they may blaspheme. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin- because they were saying, "He has an unclean Spirit." Mark 3:22-30
Scribes coming down from Jerusalem, in the last, may have carried more weight with their words. However, the people now have a man setting them possessed free, the scribes never did that. They have a man who is healing their diseases, the scribes never did that. And now, as if the add weight to their argument, the scribes saying Jesus is Satan and He is casting out demons by the power of Satan. They are appearing fools!
Criticism comes but when it clutches at straws it becomes ridiculous. The Scribes have now committed an unpardonable sin, they have accused the Holy Spirit of being Satan. In their foolishness they have gone too far. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit is holy and accusing Him of u cleanses is not on.
The Scribes wanted this to stay as they were: the bound to stay possessed, the sick to remain ill, all because they wanted to retain their authority. When our authority is being threatened, it is time to examine ourselves, not others. There are times I make statements that need challenging because then I see my own foolishness and repent. The scribes did not want to go there.
