Scripture or Me? Which is Right?

Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will run away, because it is written:
'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will scatter.'
But after I have resurrected, I will go ahead of you to Galilee."
Peter told Him, "Even if everyone runs away, I will certainly not!"
"I assure you, " Jesus told him, " today, this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times!"
But he kept on insisting, "If I have to die with You, I will never deny You!" And they all said the same thing. Mark 14:27-31

This is an example where we allow our emotions to defy Scripture. Jesus told the disciples what was prophesied in scripture, and yet they disagreed. Who was right? As we read on we see Jesus and Scripture was right.

Today, I see people I love, walk in their emotion and think that because what they have devised is noble then that is a guarantee of success or righteousness. We can so easily be fooled by our flesh who lists for centre stage.

Just as the disciples were in for a lesson, so are we. Only truth remains and truth is wrapped in Scripture. Our God is true and just, we mortals are flawed with self-centredness.

Ir behoves us therefore to get to know truth and we do this as we humbly spend time and time and time in the word with the author of our lives. Turn off the rush! Stop a while, a long while. Amen!
