Being Nourished by the Word

If you point these things out to the brothers (that in the latter times some will depart from the faith following strange doctrines), you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished by the words of the faith and good teaching you have followed. 1Tim 4:6

I am drawn to the concept of being 'nourished by the words of the faith and good teaching.' I have been fighting an enemy that has come to demoralise and disturb me this week, it has been a troubling attack on my mind. Yet I continued reading th word, studying it and listening to good messages, but it all seemed to no avail, until this morning. I recognised the mindset and began to praise the Lord for what He is doing and the opportunity to serve. Somehow, in all God is doing, the enemy was feeding me a negative slant. I then realised I must decide to be nourished by the words I read and hear, I must be engaged.

Likewise, I cannot be involved in negative prayer, negative fellowship, negative talk, negative conversation. Philippians 4:8,9 tells us: finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable- if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise- dwell on these things. Do what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

I can see where it all began, negative talk, critical talk, all stemming from Sunday. We can so easily be encouraged to feel sorry for ourselves, I fell into that, ever so subtly. Here a lie, there a lie! I did not receive a message on marriage because I am divorced and reacted unkindly. Not good! Repentance is the answer. Praise God!
