Devoted to Good Works

And our people must also learn to devote themselves to good works for cases of urgent need, so that they will not be unfruitful. Titus 3:14

If we are devoted to 'good works,' then when the opportunity comes along we will see them and not miss them. Being ready to do good works is like the virgins that took extra oil with their lamps so that when the groom came their were ready.

If I consume everything myself then I am not being a good steward. I am given what I am given to do good works. If my needs are met, before I waste money on 'fun thing,' larger TVs, lavish banquets etc I should ask the Lord, 'what is this for?' It may well be given to us so that we can meet a financial need in others when it arrives. He has a plan, it is our task to seek it out.

I am placed in a work situation, a housing situation so that I will be a minister to my neighbourhood. I am not there just for me, it is not always about me, it is about us. I am salt and light and I need to switch on and be what I be.

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
