Hold on!

Hold on to the pattern of sound teaching you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Guard, through the Holy Spirit who lives in us, that good thing entrusted to you. 2 Tim 1:13,14

Paul is encouraging Timothy to be steadfast. In fact all the epistles encourage, admonish and praise the recipients, speaking of steadfastness, truth and justice. Why is this so important? We have an enemy who is intent of destroying anything that bears the mark of Christ. We deceive ourselves if we think we are safe because we attend a particular church, pray five minutes a day and generally try to be good.

We need to bathe in the scriptures, seek the Lord as if He is our last breath, stay focussed on the goal of eternity, with the lost at every opportunity. Christianity is not for the slack or lazy, halfhearted. Yet if I have given my heart to Christ then, what is the problem? How can I give my heart yet walk unfaithfully?

John Bevere has written a new book: 'Good or God,' and has been promoting it on social media. He challenges us to be white hot, not lukewarm. Phil Pringle has written a new book, 'Born Identity,' these books exhort us, challenge us. We are given the best access to resources in this age we live, we have no excuses. We cannot stay faithful without connecting to the source of power daily, much like an electric car. In ourselves we are not strong, but connected to Him and filled with His power we are strong.

What is the good thing entrusted to you? The Spirit of God. Don't neglect it, cherish it more than your ease, more than possessions, more than your need for love. Amen!eaw
