How Then Should us Girls Dress?

Also, women are to dress themselves in modest clothing, with decency and good sense, not with elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive apparel, but with good works, as is proper for women who affirm they worship God. 1Tim 2:9,10

I am grateful for this modern era where anything goes but most of all both men and women are comfortable in denim jeans. I don't always wear jeans but they are my comfort choice, apart from black tights and tops in winter.

Who really notices what we wear? Does it matter? Well yes, modestly is important. However, the modern men and women continually accept less and less. Paul does not mention this, but attitude and motive in wearing what we wear is important. If a woman dresses to attract attention and all her body language is saying: " look at me," then she is improperly dressed for a church gathering.

Needing to heavily bejewel ourselves can also be a cry for attention. Why do I go to church? I go to find the Lord, to worship Him, not myself. If I go hungry for God then I am going with a good heart and will find Him.

Dressing out of respect for myself and others is important. Respect comes out of wholeness. Yet there will be women who come and do not yet know the Lord or are only new to church, we must give them grace.

Paul says good work is the most attractive thing we women can do. Good work is that which is done without a hidden agenda, one that comes from a heart wanting to serve.
