Love for the Truth and Love For God

For among them (those who hold a form of godliness but denying its power) are those who worm their way into households and capture idle women burdened down with sins, led along by a variety of passions, always learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 2 Tim 3: 6,7

Today I see so many TV shows were the audience is filled with women. Why is it the women are attracted to the latest idea? Is it because many are idle and need to be busy working or because we are an inquisitive lot? Whatever the reason we have to be careful to be faithful to the truth.

How can we discern those who wish to worm their way into our lives and homes? Look at the fruit of their lives. Before making a hero or an idol out of someone guard your heart. Don't allow it to embrace a fad or a face.

Our hearts are meant to be lovers of God, where truth and righteousness dwell. We cannot prostitute ourselves with carnal lusts. Where is the power in that?

I want the power of God in my life, nothing else. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
