Prayer For This Who Disappoint us
At my first defence, no one stood by me, but everyone deserted me. May it not be counted against them. But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the proclamation might be fully made through me and all Gentiles might hear. So I was rescued from the lions mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil work and will bring me safely into His heavenly Kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever! Amen! 2 Tim 4:16-18
When people desert you, it is very hard to release them as Paul has done. The sense of betrayal burns like acid. Yet Paul, like Stephen and his Saviour Jesus did just that. Paul was a part of Stephen's stoning. Perhaps what he heard and saw from Stephen was indelibly printed in his soul. I know it would me, and that imprint would call out to me to do likewise.
Myself, I have only these examples to follow. Not having been witness to the events I must take them in faith. However, I must trust that the blood that sets me free will set others free.
This morning as I prayed I was pondering how so many do not have a heart for the lost, they are blind and deaf to the cries of these souls. This causes me to be indignant and I asked how they might see and hear, and knew the answer. Only the Spirit opens eyes and ears. It is He who gives us revelation of sin, convicts of His passions. I can only pray and be the light, but keep attitude out of it. There's the challenge, my challenge and my recourse to repentance.
Therefore, I welcome You Holy Spirt, I invite you to come with me, be in my conversation, open hearts, minds, ears to the lost, fill your people with Your passion for the lost. Amen!
