Take and Eat with Thanksgiving
For everything created by God is good, and nothing should be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, since it is sanctified by the word of God and by prayer. 1Tim 4:4,5
When God created in the beginning, He said, "it is good!" We, then, can trust, that everything He made is good. We can receive everything created with grateful, thankful heart.
These verses follow on after Paul's teaching those who were teaching false doctrine and abstinence from certain foods. Paul is saying all food is good, even that which Jews held not to be good. The Lord actually showed Peter this truth through a vision. The vision was used to show him not to be partial as to who He would invite into salvation. This can be found in Acts 10:9-16.
Food being sanctified by prayer is something Jesus showed us, He blessed the food before eating. We can give thanks for the food we are about to eat and ask God's blessing upon it. This involve Him, thanking Him for the provision and asking Him for its blessing to our bodies.
Out of interest: I wonder if we remembered to do more of this that our food would be better for us? Just thinking out loud!!
