Truth or Falsehood

Now the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared. They forbid marriage and demand abstinence from foods that God created to be received with gratitude by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing should be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, since it is sanctified by the word of God and by prayer. 1 Tim 4:1-5

We are in the latter times and deception abounds. Many churches are changing their doctrine and some are rewriting the bible to incorporate their beliefs. The comfort I have is that a genuine seeker looks for truth and is not satisfied with that which is false. I am mindful of someone wanting to buy a pair of Nike runners, there are many counterfeits around. If someone really knows the original they will not settle for the fake. The fake does not last, nor are they all they purport to be.

Knowing Christ and the truth of His resurrection is so satisfying, allowing Him in to challenge the soul is not surpassed by any false teaching. His love comes with truth, His love liberates us, sets us free. I can serve the image of Christ but better is the person of Christ. He is fulfilling, nothing outshines Him. Amen!

Lord give me seekers after truth! Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
