Who is Jesus?
Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways. In these days, He has spoken to us by His Son. God has appointed a Him heir of all things and made the universe through Him. The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact expression of His nature, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. So He became higher in rank than the Angels, just as the name He inherited is superior to theirs. Hebrews 1:1-4
One of the greatest mysteries in Christendom is: who wrote the book of Hebrews? Can I throw in my two cents worth? This opening reminds me of one other:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning.
All things were created throug Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created.
Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men. That light shines in darkness, yet the darkness did not overcome it. John 1:1-5
Now I know the author of Hebrews states that he received the message from others: 2:3 however we know John, Peter and Paul were an important part of establishing the church. The author mentions Timothy being released from prison and the final passages have a marked resemblance to Paul. I think the author was someone who knew Paul and John. It can't be Timothy is he is referred to in the third person. However, the author speaks with authority and love of truth. For me this epistle builds on the gospel of John.
Jesus is Lord! He is God, not just a prophet or a good man, He was God in the flesh. What a treasure to have Him visit us like this. He was our first alien invasion and we humans did to a him what we would do to others, killed Him, by like a true alien, He could not be killed and rose again.
I love this book. The truth of Christ is so compelling, life giving and breath taking. Amen!
Thank you author of Hebrews, forever thank you. ThNk a Lord for being the inspiration. Amen!
