Failing to Reach Grace
Make sure no one falls short of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble by it, defiling many. Hebrews 12:15
Did you know you could fall short of the grace of God?
God's grace is there for us in abundance, flowing freely. I can access it just by asking. So how do I find myself entertaining a root of bitterness? Shopping in the wrong store.
Before the internet sex shops where in a lot of towns, men had to physically go there. They were seen going into the shops, possibly questioned as to why they went there. They were in the wrong shops, buying the wrong product.
In the kingdom of God, the main product is grace and out of grace everything else flows. A root of bitterness is bought at a shop of offence. Why were you there? You, like the man at the sex shop, were lured there by your enemy who wanted to cage you. We are told to guard our hearts( Prov 4:23) and also to put on the helmet of salvation.(eph 6:17) The helmet of salvation says to the thoughts fired at The believer, I am born again, I don't listen to slander against a brother, go away.
So, falling short, is to sin and miss the mark. We fall short of grace freely given when we choose sin over grace. The fix is simple, repent and ask for forgiveness and turn away from the thing that had you caged. I find praying for the person bugging me, grace and mercy pour out upon them, fixes me. I cannot pray that whilst entertaining wrong thoughts.
