Knowing the Father
We have a great deal to say about this (Jesus being our High Priest), and it is difficult to explain, since you have become to lazy to understand. Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the basic principles of God's revelation again. You need milk, not solid food. Now everyone who lives on milk is inexperienced with the message about righteousness, because he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature- for those whose senses have been trained to distinguish between good and evil. Hebrews 5:11-14
What an indictment: 'you have become lazy to understand.' How does such a thing come about in a society where there are no TVs, iPods, iPads, iPhones, game boys? It seems, not matter what period in time we look at, people can always choose to not spend time getting to know God and His word. The early church did not have bibles as we do, they had the letters from the apostles and the Torah. In the third century a Greèk translation of the Old Testament called the Septuagint came about. However, we know of Christians in persecuted countries who only will have one chapter of a book out of the bible and they are more mature in Christ.
Therefore ease can make us slack, the cares of this world make us slack towards God. We are responsible for maintaining a 'white hot' desire and relationship with God and His word.
Today, in Australia, is Father's Day. There is only one perfect father. My natural dad has been long gone but I have the best father in the world in my Heavenly Father and I rejoice in knowing Him. He is good!
