A Chosen Race
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.
Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Isaiah 43:20 (1 Peter 2:9)
I am digressing, sort of. This morning I found myself in 1Peter 2 and enjoyed the scripture there so much, I have lingered a while. We, the Gentiles, are those called out of darkness to see a great light, praise God! We were once, not a people, and now are His people because of new birth in Christ. Once, we, the Gentiles could only look on a wistfully enjoy God from afar, now we are grafted in, a part of His family.
We have received mercy through Christ, we are forgiven, cleansed, made right with Him. Praise God!
Isaiah constantly brought Christ near and the New Life and New Way He would bring, but here, Peter gives testimony about what has happened. Amen!
Rejoice oh barren ones! Amen!
