A Resting Place

On that day the root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the people's. The nations will seek Him, and His resting place will be glorious. Isaiah 11:10

We live in this day. Many are coming to Christ, He is our peace, our rest. Jesus Himself said, "take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:29, 30

If our religious practice is heavy and exacting then perhaps we need an encounter with Jesus, He does not burden us down with rules and regulations.

Today is Sunday and many will go to church or watch church on-line, being there is better by the way, nothing like being in the company of believers and in the presence of God. Do you feel going to church a burden? Perhaps you are looking at it wrongly. You shower every day and always are refreshed. There are times you don't feel like making the effort but when you do, you smell better and have more clarity of thought. 

Having come from a background in Catholicism I can say Jesus has set me free from a mindset of performance. There is nothing I can do to earn more of God, but there is more I can do to enjoy more of God. Seeking Him and His way is far more liberating that following man's ways. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
