Death Has Been Destroyed- For What?

On this mountain He will destroy the burial shroud, the shroud over all the peoples, the sheet covering all the nations; He will destroy death forever. Isaiah 25:7,8a

On the mountain of Golgotta Jesus defeated death, by Himself dying and rising to life. Prior eternal death was a very real possibility. In His death He destroyed the power of Satan over us, He bought us back.

Prior to Christ mankind lived under judgement, Jesus said of Himself:" I am the door, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by Me. "When Jesus left the earth He said to His disciples: "all authority has been given to Me, in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:18-20

Before Christ we had no power, after Christ we had authority and power. He was given all power and authority and He gave it to us. If we have been given authority what authority do we have? In Matthew 16:19 Jesus said: "I will give you the keys of he kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth is already bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth is already loosed in heaven."

Now if we have been given power to bind and loose, don't you think we should discover what we are supposed to bind and loose? In other words get educated. Being given an aeroplane does not mean we know how to fly it, we need lessons or we will be deadly. May I suggest that without an education the Christian is deadly. Look at what the disciples wanted to do to those who did not accept the gospel, they wanted to call down fire on them. They knew they had the power but they were not to be trusted, just yet. Our annoyance does not produce a godly result. Amen!

As we learn what we have been given, we are awesome in His hands. Amen!
