God's Ways verses My Ways

For the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has said: "You will be delivered by returning and resting; your strength will lie in confidence. But you are not willing." You say, "No! We will escape on horses"- therefore you will escape!- and "We will ride on fast horses"- but those who pursue you will be faster. One thousand will flee at the threat of five you will flee, until you alone remain like a solitary pole on a mountaintop or a banner on a hill. Isaiah 30:15-17

At times we can be so determined and yet so wrong. I watch a friend who constantly gets involved in administration, yet when she does she seems to strive and get sick. I have been in this place. You can be so determined to push through but you are pushing against God's will for you and there is no peace. All winter I got up early and went swimming, training to swim 2km in an open water race. I broke a rib getting out of the pool and I then I injured shoulders, knees, wrists, calves, only to be told, "You are not able to go fast, it injures you."

My nature is to overcome and push through but God prefers me to walk and meet people who He is interested in. Not such an adrenaline rush but He is happy, my body appreciates the rest. Last year in my determination to ride my bike I was hit by a car and had a fractured pelvis. Since walking I have not injured myself but made a friend who needs Christ.

I know there is no glory in walking, for me. The Lord wants the glory. I now have no reason to boast, in myself, but plenty to boast in Him. He is good!

God says, "My ways are not your ways and My thoughts are not your thoughts." He is right!
