The Purpose of Evil

Shining morning star, how you have fallen from the heavens! You destroyed nations, you have been cut down to the ground. You said to yourself: " I will ascend to the heavens; I will set up my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on the mount of the gods' assembly, in the remotest parts of the North. I will ascend above the highest clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." But you will be brought down to Sheol into the deepest regions of the Pit.
Those who see you will stare at you; they will look closely at you: " is this the man who caused the earth to tremble, who shook the kingdom's, who turned the world into a wilderness, who destroyed its cities and would not release the prisoners to return home?" Isaiah 14:12-17

Whist this has been used to describe the heart of Satan by Christians, here it is part of a song Isaiah told the people of Israel that they would sing when the Lord gave them rest from their pain. The song is  a song of contempt aimed at the King of Babylon. However, I can see the parallels, anything motivated by Satan will bear his mark. The interesting thing here is, God used this nation to teach His people a lesson, yet the motivation of the heart was definitely not godly.

Proverbs tell us that even evil men are used by God for a purpose. Everything that comes against us is used by God for a purpose, we just have to trust Him. He has a plan. Whilst in the pain we may not see the purpose or even believe God is for us, but He is. Wait a little and you will see. Amen!

Pain causes us to seek answers. Sometimes the pain is a result of our own foolishness, sometimes an attack, but often it is how life works. Making a life, a living, a business, a family is stressed and strained and tested. Every idea we have will be tested so that we know if it is valid. The test shows us our hearts, will we persevere? Is God in this for us? Testing helps us find out.
