What Spirit Will I Choose?

Woe ti those who rise early in the morning in the pursuit of beer, who linger in the evening, inflamed by wine. At their feasts they have the lyre, harp, tambourine, flute, and wine. They do not perceive the Lord's actions, they do not see the work of His hands. Isaiah 5:11,12

Beer and wine are a different spirit, an earthly spirit. The people in these scriptures are choosing an earthly remedy instead of a Godly remedy. Both make us feel good but only one is a divine relationship.

Choosing God and His Holy Spirit's presence above reaching for a bottle takes a decision and a determination. Who will I choose?

My grandmother was disappointed by her husband's decision to sell their house and buy farmland. This meant  she had to live with an oppressive mother in law. She turned to drink as she felt helpless to change her lot in life. She died at 52 a diabetic and a very sick woman. My dad struggled with fear all his life and chose alcohol to make him brave, he died from cancer.

As a nurse I saw many alcoholics destroy their livers through their lust for alcohol. Jesus is the answer. He can set us free from the dependence on the rush and numbing that comes from alcohol. He can help us heal the root problem that causes us to go to alcohol in the first place as our solace.

The presence of God is enough, He is good, He genuinely heals all our diseases, heals all out wounds. Amen!
