Isaiah Told us What to Expect
"This is My servant; I strengthen Him, this is My chosen One; I delight in Him.
I have put My Spirit on Him; He will bring justice to he nations.
He will not cry out or shout or make His voice heard in the streets.
He will not break a bruised reed, and He will not put out a smoldering wick;
He will faithfully bring justice.
He will not grow weak or discouraged until He has established justice on earth.
The islands will wait for His instruction." Isaiah 42:1-4
Hundreds of years before Jesus' birth, Isaiah was prophesying about His character and behaviour.
We see here God's intention towards Jesus. Jesus was strengthened by God, He was delighted in by the Father, He had the Spirit of God on Him. His very behaviour was just, He preached justice for all.
He did not make a loud noise to be heard, He did not shatter the broken, the low and the lost. Jesus was a defender of the weak and lowly, of those cast out by society.
His defence of the woman caught in the act of adultery was priceless: "let he who is without sin. Sat the first stone!"
He ate with sinners and publicans, much to the disgust of the Pharisees. He was at home with them because they shared something, there was no pride here, there were the humbled and meek.
He did not grow weak or discouraged, He strengthened Himself in the Lord. I can trust and love this man, this God! Amen!
