Let God be the Barometer
Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, " hear the word of the Lord of Hosts: the time will certainly come when everything in your palace and all that your father's have stored up until this day will be carried off to Babylon; nothing will be left, says the Lord. Some of your descendants who come from you will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the King of Babylon."
Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "The word of the Lord that you have spoken is good, for he thought: there will be peace and security during my lifetime. Isaiah 39:5-8
Hezekiah had received visitors from Bablon and showed them everything in his palace, all his treasures. This was foolish, in light of what Isaiah had to say about it. Yet Hezekiah here is showing his weak spot, he did not care that his children would go into slavery because of him. Hezekiah was riding high, he had been healed by the Lord and given 15 more years to live.
When we have an answer to prayer and are riding high we are in a dangerous place. In the emotion we feel about success we say and do what we should never say and do.
As Pentecostal Christians we tend to gauge our experience by how we feel and live out of how we feel rather than the word of God and His presence. Feeling good does not condone walking in the flesh, especially when we need to walk in the spirit.
God is a better barometer than our feelings, walk with Him! Amen!
