The Compassionate One
This is what the Lord says:
"I will answer you in times of favour, and I will help you in the day of salvation. I will keep you, and I will appoint you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land, to make them possess the desolate inheritances, saying to the prisoners: "Come out!" And to those in darkness: "Show yourselves!"
They will feed along the pathways, and their pastures will be on all the barren heights. They will not hunger or thirst, the scorching heat or sun will not strike them; for their compassionate One will guide them, and lead them to springs of water. I will make all My mountains into a road, and My highways will be raised up. See, these will come from far away, from the north and from the west, and from the land of Sinim. Shout for joy, you heavens! Earth rejoice! Mountains break into joyful shouts! For the Lord has comforted His people, and will have compassion on the afflicted ones. Isaiah 49:8-13
We can see from these scripture how the Lord feels about restoration, salvation and mercy. He is our compassionate One, who leads us to spring water. Yet, today, and most days now I see inhumanity towards those fleeing persecution and refused entry. Only today my country turned back a boat that had approached one of our islands and had people on board seeking to come to Australia. Australia turns back boats. If we were as close as Italy or Greece and knew Syrian refugees wanted to come to our shores, what would we do? Those seeking refuge in Australia must do it from their place of origin. This is all well and good if you are able to do it there, what about when you are running for your life?
I know our government has the horrid task of protecting its people from terrorism and at the same time helping the refugees. I would not like the job. We have a saying: ' you are dammed if you do and dammed if you don't!
I am so glad our God knows the truth about us all, He is not like us, limited in our understanding! Thanks Lord! I am so grateful His resources are unlimited. I am grateful that His love and forgiveness are unlimited. I pay for His wisdom in knowing who to help, and the provision of resources to help them. Amen!
