Ignorance

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance. But as the One who called you is holy, you are also to be holy in all your conduct: for it is written, 'Be holy because I am holy.' 1 Peter 1:14-16

Our behaviour before Christ was done in ignorance. If we choose to go back to any of that behaviour, whether it be how we dealt with conflict, our attitude to sex, our attitude to our bodies, then we are going back to ignorance and another would be forgiven for calling us 'ignorant!' Whilst this would be offensive, it would be true.

We have, in Christ, been given a new spirit, new strength and a new mind, the mind of Christ. We have no excuse for being ignorant.

The Spirit of Christ is holy, there is no fleshly way there, no hidden sin, no lust, no selfishness. We are to put on Christ Romans 13:14. By putting on Christ we put on all that that entails: holiness, righteousness, purity, victory. Putting on Christ cannot be done in a vaccum, for then we would begin to modify scripture to mirror our sin, it must be done in fellowship, in laying down our pride, our arrogance, our fear and allowing Christ to rule. Amen!
