Royalty
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 1 Peter 2:9,10
We have all watched movies of times past, dark times without technology and flush toilets, times without machines at all. I happen to love movies of early England and for a period of time read loads of books about such a time. I remember when we first had television I was about 12 and during one school holidays, daily on the ABC was a show about Elizabethean England and Francis Drake. Now it only takes a bit of Imagination to see yourself in dirty streets, with the stench of no sewers, no antibiotics, poverty and bad medical practices. Ugg! Whilst the romance of Robin Hood tells a different tale, my points are valid.
Now imagine a powerful, benevolent Lord arrives and creates a good and peaceful world where there is justice, fairness, health, wellbeing. Well, who would not want to live in such a world? I know I would. In fact my world is just like that, well, almost. I have a benevolent Lord, His name is Jesus and He is true and just. Because He loves me, I love Him in return and do not want to wander away from His Kingdom. Why would I? What makes us wander is believing the lies our enemy tells about our Saviour and how our lives 'should' be. Nothing can stop the difficulties but we have a Saviour who leads us rough the difficulties and uses the m to create character insider us.
Our challenge is to so immerse ourselves in Christ, His word and His truth, to follow Him and trust Him alone and not listen to the other guy. You can trust Him! Amen!
