Salvation and Righteousness
I greatly rejoice in the Lord, I exult in my God; for He has clothed me with the garment of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of righteousness, as a groom wears a turban and as a bride adorns herself with jewels. Isaiah 61:10
Here we see that salvation is like a garment we wear. A garment is visible, seen and enjoyed by others. What does it look like to them? Lovely, peaceful, attractive, enjoyable? This salvation, I wear, is fashioning me, the wearer, as opposed to what we normally do with our clothing, we fashion them.
To top it all off I am given a robe, that goes over my garment, it is called righteousness. What does that look like? Gracious, temperate, courteous, modest, humble? These are the qualities of righteousness, that is, if I wear it.
I am given two wonderful, everlasting gifts: salvation and righteousness, both are items you wear. Just as I choose what to wear each day, I must choose to wear these, they are mine. Amen!
