We Remember
He sent His glorious arm to be at Moses' right hand, divided the water before them to obtain eternal fame for Himself, and led them through the depths like a horse in the wilderness, so that they did not stumble. Like cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the Lord gave them rest. You led Your people this way to make a glorious name for Yourself. Isaiah 63:12-14
God's mraculous provision did give Him fame, to those who sought Him. From time past to now, thousands of years have gone by but the stories still strike a chord. Yet He did what He did, not for fame, but because He loved them and chose them as His people.
Through the centuries people have done great things, some good, some bad. However they are fondly remembered for their heart before their deeds. I am amazed that at funerals the dead guy is always a 'good bloke.' Yet, in reality we know that was not necessarily true. Why do people look for the good at funerals? Why not tell the truth? I don't know if people can, they have this sudden need to be 'nice.'
Yet when Jesus died there was a it said about Him failing to be who He said He was, or more importantly who they thought He said He was. His opponents gloated, Hus friends and family were dismayed. Yet, He effected the single best thing that has ever been given to humanity, forgiveness and cleansing from sin.
I know who I want to remember. How about you?
