Are You the One?

After John the Baptist's messengers left, He began speaking to the crowds about John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A man dressed in soft robes? Look, those who are splendidly dressed and live in luxury are in royal palaces. What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes I tell you, and far more than a prophet. This is the one written about: 'Look I am sending My messenger ahead of You; he will prepare Your way before you." Luke 7:24-27

John had begun to doubt Jesus was the Messiah because he found himself in Herod's prison and the Jewish people were looking for a deliverer, as was John. So, John's disciples publically challenged Jesus and He did not retaliate or defend Himself, in fact He honoured John.

Jesus had a grasp of a reality that John did not share. Jsus has a grasp of a reality we do not share. Remember we are offended when our expectations are not met. The problem was John and in our world the problem is us. It may have been hard for John to accept that his final ministry was to Herod and by retaining his integrity he would have posted a message that rang true down through the centuries. However, he is remembered as a man who started well and had his head chopped off.

Accepting at our final days are in ignominy and not quite where we thought we would be, is challenging. Yet coming to terms with God's decision is a must, this is the only path to peace. Amen!
