Blind Guides

He also told them a parable: "Can the blind guide the blind? Won't they both fall into a pit? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher. Luke 6:39,40

I have a blind dog, if I move furniture and add furniture she is lost and needs my help. If I was also blind we would struggle. My dog relies on my eyes.

Doing bible school is good but so is experience in the word. I remember as a pastor trying to help people going through a marriage break up, we did our best but lacked understanding, I now have understanding and empathy because of my experience. People who have the letter of the scripture can think a scripture should fix things, but there is a presence in the scripture that fixes things. Unless we can connect with the author we remain lost and in pain. Healing takes time, a lot longer than we are willing to allow.

Samuel's mother knew the truth, when she was unable to have a child she went to the temple to pray, she was seeking God and His answers, she received it.

This scripture carries a warning and a promise. The warning I have covered but the promise is good food. When we allow ourselves to be fully trained we become like our teacher. Jesus here is the teacher. We all need to be taught, if you don't have a teacher, find one. I have several and one in particular. I looked for what I wanted in God, in a man of God, and when I found it I opened my ears.

Whilst I remain an individual, important life principles and biblical standards I seek to learn. I have a heart that loves to learn and I pray I never lose this, it will keep me safe and long as I do not wander looking to justify sin with errant teaching.
