Fear Causes Rejection

Then the people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man who the demons had been cast out of, dressed and sitting at His feet in his right mind.  And they were afraid. Meanwhile, the eyewitnesses reported to them how the demo possessed man was delivered. Then all the people of the Cesarea region asked Him to leave them, because they were gripped with great fear. So getting into the boat, He returned. Luke 8:38,39

The commotion caused by a heard of pigs screaming with demon possession racing down the hill and plunging into the sea, would have been awful. In my younger days I dated a farmer and was with him when he castrated the piglets, their squealing was deafening.

They were used to one man being possessed and living in the tombs, but here he was, clothed and sane, sitting at peace. They had tried for years to restrain him, to control him, and a stranger arrives and does, in a few minutes, the very thing they had tried to do for decades. 

Their response was fear. The fear was so intense that they asked their deliverer to leave. The sad thing was, He did, for a time. Grace brought Him back. The deliver man needed to settle back into his society and bear witness to the miracle that had been wrought,

This lesson show us how we will reject the best thing that has ever happened to us, because of fear. If we can step over fear a glorious future awaits us. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
