Be on Your Guard

Be on your guard. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in a day and comes back to you seven times, saying, "I repent," forgive him." Luke 17:3,4

There you have what to do when your brother or sister sins against you. Rebuke them! If they repent, forgive them.

Jesus did not say go away and tell everyone about their sin. He did not say go to the courts. He said, "Rebuke them!"

A lot of the time we are unable to confront because we ourself have sin in the shape of offense and we know that if we do rebuke them we will not do a good job, because we have an unclean heart. The freerer my heart is the better able to confront I am. This week has been a week of confrontation. Tomorrow is Friday and every day now I have had to confront someone.

Tonight I was confronted by an accusation against a councillor. Tomorrow I must confront the councillor and discover the truth so that I can stand by the truth against wickedness. Those who gossip and spread lies and accusations are vile individuals. Don't listen to them!

Next, we must be quick to forgive. Mercy I receive, mercy I must give! Amen!
