Counting the Cost
"For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn't first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, after he has laid the foundation and cannot finish, all the onlookers will begin to make fun of him, saying, 'This man started to build and wasn't able to finish.'
Or what king, going to war against another king, will not first sit down and decide if he is able with 10,000 to oppose the one who comes against him with 20,000? If not, while the other is still far off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. In the same way, therefore, everyone of you who does not say good-bye to all his possessions cannot be My disciple. Luke 14:28-33
Jesus would agree with those who say, "Do not make it easy for people to ask Christ into their lives, instead let them seek and struggle a little, then when they find Him they will be truely grateful." I can identify! I searched for Christ for 15 years, through the Cathlolic church and did not find Him, He was outside knocking. When I finally found Him I knew gratitude and that gratitude still carries me.
Isn't it interesting that we must count the cost? We cannot afford to start and not finish, too many are watching and waiting for the revealing of the sons of God. If we are the source of food to the hungry heart, how can we take them and consume them for our own pleasure. So many cross into sexual indiscretion when the love they felt for the people was to bring them through to Christ and see them restore in right relationship with Him, not for their own pleasure.
Counting the cost in life is important in any relationship, business deal and commitment. It is foolish to run had-long into a mire that we cannot navigate, all because we did not count the cost.
Today I went to see an engineer and discussed an invention I have designed. Together we discussed the cost and how we would manage that cost, what the future of the machine being created would be, how to market it etc. I sensed the presence of God at the meeting and knew I was in the right place. I told the man that I was a woman of faith and would be praying for him as he put the design to paper. He was pleasantly surprised. I then went away and discussed the project with one of my brothers who had been down this path with his own invention. He was most helpful. God has placed the right people before me and I trust a Him to bring it to pass. Amen!
Choosing to follow Christ was the best decision I ever made, and choosing to allow Him to be GOD, the second best. He is the best fun!
