Daring to Bother

Jesus also said to the man who invited Him, "When you give a dinner or a supper, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or your wealthy neighbours, lest perhaps they might invite you back in return, and so you are paid back. But when you give a banquet or a reception invite the poor, the disabled, the lame, the blind.
Then you may be blessed because they have no way of repaying you and you will be recompensed at the resurrection of the just. Luke 14:12-14

I have been guilty of inviting over people from church so that I could get the stone rolling and be invited back, yet it never went far. Perhaps it was because the people were blind and lame, although they did not appeared so.

The times I step out and invite without thought of repayment I am blessed. I am an invitaholic (I know, I made that up). Yet I will continue to invite people because that is who I am. I believe God is leading me out on the ice again. In other words faith is up to something. I sense it stirring. I wonder who I will invite? I have an idea to create a games group for people who like to play chess, mahjong, scrabble, rummyking. I love playing games and entertaining. Now, I might get all manner of people along to that. But then, that is where opportunities to share Christ are the best! Amen!

Boldness to dare, boldness to bother. Now, there's a biggie! So many people don't care and don't bother. When someone does care and does bother, they are different and like a piece of sticky paper that attracts flies, I mean people.

Why not step out with me and dare to bother! Amen!
