Do I Trust You?
Then He said to His disciples: "Therefore I tell you, don't worry about your life, what you will eat: or about your body; what you will wear. For life is more than food and the body is more than clothing. Consider the ravens. They don't sow or reap: they don't have a storeroom or a barn; yet God feeds them. Aren't you worth much more than the birds? Can anyone of you add a cubit to his height by worrying? If then you are not able to do these things, why worry about the rest? Luke 12:22-26
Do we worry? I'd say we do. I must be honest and say I find myself anxious at times and the anxiety usually surrounds provision. I remember going through a period of two years with just one pair of dress shoes. There were times when this fact chafed me and I had to praise the Lord I had shoes to wear and that they still looked good. It was a test for me and then suddenly I was able to buy a few new pairs at a bargain price. The Lord was interested in my attitude. Being grateful for what we have is important, He is in charge of the more.
Another bother we have is our weight. We live in an age where we gain weight just by looking at cake, or that is how it feels and then we try on cloths we think will fit and they are tight. Jesus talks about not worrying about what we should eat. We tend to think of this is the area of lack, but we could take it further. Instead of constantly dieting and worrying about control, give control to Him. The fear is always, but I will just go out of control, will you? Where is your trust?
I have to allow these scriptures to chasten me, mould me and bring me to greater trust and a closer walk with Him. Amen!
