Handling Truth

And Jesus said to His disciples, "Temptations are sure to come, but woe to him by or through whom they come! It would be more profitable for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were hurled into the sea than he should cause to sin or be a snare to one of these little ones (lowly in rank or influence). Luke 17:1,2

Some bibles use the word offences instead of temptation, however it is more applicable here. Causing the innocent or naieve to sin is serious in God's eyes. This includes seduction, calling black white, deception, using a platform to peddle falsehoods, as in a teacher, politician or pastor.

John Grisham writes books about the legal profession and some have been converted to movies. He tends to cover the dark side of police, politicians, businessmen etc. in one of his books: Rogue Lawyer, he talks about the corruption that the police department in his city go to to cover up their failings and mistakes, to the point of indicting a man for murder. People who lie to cover sin rather than confess their sins and be cleansed are before others and their behaviour says, 'watch me and do what I do.'

Teachers who stand on a particular soap box, eg homosexuality and transgender rights, seek to bring their beliefs into the schools through innocuous looking programmes that talk about bullying. These teachers are promoting a lifestyle at is wrong and will be judged for their stance.

Pastors who use the pulpit to destroy the authority of the bible will be judged. We are accountable folks, we must be aware of our representation of the gospel and the truth it contains. One of the very last verses in the bible says: 'and if anyone cancels or takes away from the statements of the book of this prophesy, God will cancel and take away from him his share in the tree of life.'

There is no room for the gospel of self, none whatsoever. There is only one way and that is Christ and all the words of the bible as they were given.
