The Kingdom of God

Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God will come, He answered them, "The kingdom of God is not coming with something observable: no one will say, "Look here!" Or "There!" For you see the kingdom of God is among you." Luke 17:20,21

The Pharisees were looking for a 'King,' and Jesus was telling them He was there already, and He was demonstrating the kingdom of God. Because they were programmed to look for an actual King, they rejected Him, the King of kings.

If we typecast what Jesus should be and do, what his disciples should be and do, we miss an opportunity to have a relationship with the King. Always, when we want things on our own terms, we miss the mark. We cannot demand God behaves according to our tradition or our predilections. By insisting that we control how an event should take place, we miss the beauty of the sunset, the freshness of the new day.

As Chrsitians we can be guilty or being offended with God because things did not turn out how we expected, not accepting that we are flawed and make decisions in our fleshly appetites and treat others wrongly.

Letting go and letting God is a must to move into His kingdom. Amen!
