God Must Rule
At daylight, there was a great commotion among the soldiers as to what could have happened to Peter. After Herod had searched and did not find him, he interrogated the guards and ordered their execution. The Herod went down from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there. Acts 12:18,19
Imagine losing your charge, especially when he was in chains and alone and there were four squads of your men doing the guarding. It would have been very embarrassing for the guards who knew they would forfeit their lives. But the biggest embarrassment was for Herod. He had great plans to strut his stuff in front of the Jews, yet his prize was gone. How could he be gone? Did he stop to think, to wonder?
We can so organise things down to the last detail and see them fail, we can manipulate and control and see everything sift through our fingers. Unless God ordains something, we fail. Scriptures tells us: Unless God builds the house those who build it labour in vain. (Psalm 127:1)
Plotting and planning can be of some use, but it it is not inspired by God, it is empty, tastes like chalk and worthless. Allow Him to lead, to rule, to direct. Amen!
