Hot Heads
Then they screamed at the top of their voices, covered their ears, and together rushed against him. They threw him out of the city and began to stone him. And the witnesses laid their robes at the feet of a young man named Saul. They were stoning Stephen as he called out: "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!" Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with their sins!" And saying this, he fell asleep. Acts 7:57-60
We all know what it is like to become enrarged. Our hearts are so filled with emotion and anger against the person, or persons who are upsetting us, we want to strike back. This group of people felt justified in taking Stephens life, because he made them angry. Today we call this murder, and people, in most countries, go to jail for such behaviour.
Murder is not necessarily physical, we can destroy another's reputation because we are angry about an injustice and want satisfaction. Before we destroy another's reputation, we must be very careful. If we lash out in retaliation then we introduce invective emotion that perhaps should be left out. No one should suffer from anything but the truth and justice according to the truth. If we write or say anything with a hot head, it will be tainted.
These people had very hot heads and allowed their emotions to drive them to destroy a life so they could feel better again. Yet guilt awaited them. There would come a day when they would stand before the King of Kings and be judged. Eternity awaits. Amen!
