Acceptance of the Word
After arranging a day with him, many came to him at his lodging. From dawn to dusk he expounded and witnessed about the kingdom of God. He tried to persuade them concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets. Some were persuaded by what he said, but others did not believe. Acts 28:23-25
Today I saw in my local paper a notice that a prominent psychologist, sociologist, social researcher, writer and former teacher by the name of Hugh McKay will be in town to promote his book 'Beyond Belief.' This man is questioning why, in a society in Australia where only 10% go to church and many now opt for their version of spirituality, why in crisis do people turn to God. His book questions the relevance of the need to turn to God. This man typifies what many are thinking and the many who think this and adhere to this way of thinking will discover that their cleverness led them straight down a path to eternal darkness.
The Jews were hard towards Jesus being their saviour. It makes me wonder would they ever accept Him. When he returns will they acknowledge a him then?
The book of revelation tells us that even after the millennium, when Jesus rules and reins for 1,000 people will rail against their Lord, how foolish. Yet mankind has become so self-centered that it will defend their kingdom of self.
My prayer is that the Holy Spirit pours out an awareness of sin and need for repentance and forgiveness. Man can strut all he likes but God is all powerful and will have e last word. Amen!
