Foundering

For many days neither sun nor stars appeared, and the severe storm kept raging. Finally all hope that we would be saved was disappearing. Since many had gone without food, Paul stood among them and said, you men should have followed my advice not to sail from Crete and sustain this damage and loss. Now I urge you to take courage, because there will be no loss of any of your lives, but only of the ship. For this night an angel of the God I belong to and serve stood by me, and said, Don't be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. And look! God has graciously given you all those who are sailing with you. Therefore, take courage, men, because I believe God that it will be just the way it was told to me. However, we must run aground on a certain island." Acts 27:20-26

Paul has yet to ear the right to be heard by the sailors. As far as they can tell he is a ranting lunatic. They would be very superstitious and the god of the sea that they served, they probably believed he was angry with them.

Here comes Paul with a new God, would He supersede their god? The Lord was about to demonstrate His magnificence, grace and mercy. Yet the boat still had to founder and be lost. He had a purpose, which we will soon discover.

Today I had my meeting with the manager and it went better than I expected. My desire is that there is no damage to the staff, however I cannot save everyone, they are responsible for a part of their journey
themselves. Each of us must walk in faith before our God and not expect someone else to carry us. I must walk in faith for my part and so must the staff.

The sailors had to choose to listen and obey Paul.
